I saw this advertisement on a website I got to “Only you can stop forest fires” it scared me for several reason.

1) I live no where near a forest…

2) no one told me I’d been elected to the job of  grand fireman…

3) If i’m the only one who can stop it and you take point 1 into account the world is in big big trouble!

It made me laugh seeing that advertisement

Well last night I had the great pleasure to once again see my good friend Thomas Iain “Shep” Dixon perform on stage, alongside another friend of mine Phillip Hammond.

I will admit at first I was cautious to see whether they would slaughter a book that I love so well I was both excited and worried that it would fail to live up to my high expectations.

I had nothing to worry about, the show was brilliant. I want to take the time now to just mention the characters whom I was almost awed at their performance (I’ll type post their names as soon as I can be bothered to get up and get the programme :D )

Boxer, the man who played boxer was fantastic, I couldn’t help but watch in absolute delight as he captured one of my favorite characters. He did an amazing job and should be very proud of his performance.

Molly, Wow, is all I can say. I would find myself looking around the stage in search of Molly during the show, to see the actresses’ fantastic performance as the vain horse.

Old Major, This was played by my friend Phillip Hammond, Phil was Old Major, at no point during his performance as the wise old pig did he fail to capture the essence of the character. Down to singing in character, a job that I did not envy him. It is a very hard task indeed to sing in a voice that is not yours and Phil did it without seeming to be trying.

Snowball, My favorite character from the book, and my favorite character from the play, the actor playing him was great, and showed the passion for animalism that snowball had.

Moses, Played by Thomas Iain Dixon, was enjoyable, he captured the character in a unique way and spread his subversive “religious” propaganda well. though I barely heard his first rendition of the song sugarcandy mountain
The whole cast was fantastic and the animals were completely believable.

The music on the whole was great the lyrics worked and the music was memorable.
Now with my praise of the show done I fear I mus air my few disappointments with the show.

These are small things that did not detract too much from the show but I noticed them non-the-less.

Benjamin is supposed to be neutral throughout the book/play and for the most part he was, but when the pigs said the lines and surely you don’t want Jones back (or words to that effect) he acted just as scared as the rest of the animals, that was not really fitting with the character as he cares neither one way or the other if Jones comes back, he realises that its the same either way.

Squealer and Napoleon there was not enough difference between the two, there were times when I at looking at them could not tell who on earth it was. It was only the words that gave it away. It was a minor annoyance but it did detract a little.
as always in that theater there was a problem with balance between the singing and the orchestra, not helped by some of the seating being placed directly next them.

all in all it was a great play and I hope I get the chance to see it again before its final performance this Friday.

Well this is just blooming stupid. Seriously why on earth should it be illegal for broadcasters to express partiality to a politcal party. I mean i think he’s a bit blind for supporting the Tory’s and suggesting people vote for them. but who am I to judge him for it. I say well done! stupid laws!
