Solid state video recording

Comment first! »

I’ve been looking at camera’s again and I’m noticing a trend in solid state camera’s now don’t get me wrong I can understand how they could be useful and where they could be used, but I guess when it comes to camera’s I like to be filming not just processing data to a card.

I don;t know if I’ll ever be convinced that they are the way to go, the first camera I used was a first generation mini-dv from panasonic, it works as well today as it did all those years ago, the sound is still crisper then on many others, and the images are just as clear as the day it was bought. since then I’ve not really progressed much, I still prefer Mini-dv over any other format, I never really bought into the whole DVCAM system, again I can see where it would be useful, but for myself I have always gone with what I know.

I’m starting to slowly work towards getting myself back to where I was 2 years ago business wise, actually no I’m looking to get further then I was, and I’m going to but when it comes down to getting a new camera I’m going to stick with a non-solid state system even if I have to pay more.

So I’m thinking about doing some video blogs, I’m not sure what on, but I have a lot of thought and can be sometimes a bit lazy about writing them down.

so anyway if you guys comment *hint hint* and ask me to do it I will.

Another year older, another year wiser?

So as I type there are just hours untill my birthday, last year went by without much notice, as I’m fond of joking about it was so insignificant even my dad forgot about it. But this year I’m trying to do things differently I want to celebreate the passing of  a year of my life, for this year has been a year o victory with so many good things happening.

I feel like I have aged 10 years in the last 18 months I really do, it’s been tough and rough and many times I, and other people, didn’t think that I would make it.

But I’m alive and kicking and grabbing life by the horns. I’m no longer content to sit by and watch as life passes me by (not that I’ve ever been like that really) but I’m going for it 100%.

I’m not going to allow myself to get in my way, I’m not going to allow others to get in my way, to steal a line from the musical I’ve been working on

“No one no how will stop us now

We’re going to meet our fate”

ok that was 2 lines, and only relevent if i change us to me and we’re to I’m but you get the idea. Well I hope  you do :D

I’m also trying to give up on my smiley addiction but it’s hard, I’m cutting down I’m down to about 100 a day right now, within the next year I want to be down to 20 a day. I think that that’s a fair target :D at least for me :D

As you can see Smiley addiction is a debilitating addiction that I will someday make my makr on the world by developing a cure for.

Peace and love with you all

I Am Iron Man

Comment first! »

Ok so I finally am getting around to post about Iron Man, I love Iron Man, always have he was one of the first “super hero’s” that I really wanted to read about.

So I was dubious at best about the film I’ve seen the Spiderman films, and the Daredevil and Elektra films, and pretty much every other superhero  film that they have made recently (and quite a few of the older ones Captain America FTW) and so I hated to think what they would do to it.

I loved it, I really did, I found myself feeling like a boy again reading the exploits of Iron Man for the first time. It was a truly awesome experience. And I watched the end part with Nick Fury (I’m so glad they didn’t hire the hoff to play him!!!) and I am so excited about the Avengers movie, but I will try and not get my hopes up too much I would hate to be let down, which will probably happen, but I’m optimistic about it. If they continue on in the vein of Iron Man I will definatly see all of the new Marvel films.

There was a humorous streak in the film that had me laughing quite hard several times, though I don’t think many other people found it quite as funny as I did, though I had the same thing with Dark Knight, I just laugh too much :D

Anyway I’d love to hear what you think about the film feel free to comment or email me as always. (and you lurkers please feel free to sign up and comment, we don’t bite….hard ;)

360 Vs PS3 Vs Wii Vs Ninja’s

Comment first! »

Ok so first i have to admit that I loathe Sony, ever since the original Playstation killed the Saturn I have.

I am a huge Sega fanboy I still love the Dreamcast, but I’ve gotten over the fact that they will no longer be making systems :( well almost.

I have had in the past a Playstation, an Xbox, Dreacast (obviously) and a Wii, I have played all of the next gen consoles enough to have a feel for them.

I’ll start with the Wii

It’s a great console that does what it does great, and they are expanding into other markets, it is inovative and has a lot of unrealized potential. I hope that they continue making good games for it. That said the one thing that annoys me the most about it is the fact that games that came out on the day of release are still £30-£40 I know they are good games but for goodness sake they are old, let some of the non-rich people get a chance of playing them. It is only on the Wii that you see this every other console has a game half life where it will be a certain price for so long then it gets reduced.

WHY are you doing this Nintendo and other companies, do you think just because the Wii fanbase is not your typical gamer that they will fail to notice the fact that you are screwing them ?

The PS3 is just nasty, the only good thing about it is its graphics and they are not that much better then the 360, to be honest i wold recommend that no one ever buy this console, as friend of mine did and they played it for a hundredth of the time they invested in the 360.

the 360 is a great console and coming down in price, this is a big big factor, not only can you play most Xbox games on it (with a HDD) but it has a fantastic online presence. Microsoft have really hit it out of the park with this one.

That said I do have one major gripe/complaint about it, it seems to break down far to easily, it is not as robust as other games consoles and this can lead to a lot of annoyance and wasted time as people lose their game saves and have to fork out (possibly) for a new system.

And now for Ninja’s (as promised)

If Ninja’s ever decide to make a games console it would not oly beat every other system up it would steal their lunch money to buy games for itself. on top of that it would totally be unbeatable because everyone knows that only a Ninja can beat a ninja so all of the gamers out there would either have to become a ninja or die trying to beat the console.

Nuff said ;)

that’s what my brain feels like it has been a long and stressful day but it’s over YAY!!!

Onto other news, I’m working on a blog post about gaming systems so stay tuned for that, and I’m going to go through my half finished posts that i’ve written and saved and try and finish of some of them, so that I can start posting regularly again, I’m gonna blame summer for my lack of posting, that would be a lie, but a possibly plausible one :D

Life the final frontier

Comment first! »

Life is complicated and scary, and full of all kinds of unexpected turns.

Sometimes it’s so scary that you want to hide under the cover, but it’s these times, these adversities that make us who we are.

A while back a friend asked me for help on a psych paper about identity and we talked for hours about who we are and what makes us, one of the things that came out of the conversation was this statement “Only through life experience can we learn to experience life”

another way of saying that would be to say that it is the things that we go through in life that teach us how to deal with the things that we go through in life.

It’s hard work living, theres an old joke, life no one gets out alive, but as  Christian I don’t believe that, In fact i believe the opposite, everyone can get out alive if they choose it.

I know what it’s like to fight for life, I’ve done it many times, times where most people would just give up and quit, I’ve come close, but God has sustained me, when life gets unmanageable He is there, when things feel darkest He is there, and when things are going great He is there. He is with us at all times and in all places.

So as we go into life the final frontier we need to make sure that we don’t go it alone.

Peace and love to all of you

Ben
